I review how U-dualities can be used to generate supergravity backgrounds which are dual to quantum field theories. When applied to the initial geometry AdS x X, where X is a Sasaki-Einstein space, the result is the gravity dual of a marginally deformed quiver gauge theory. I also discuss how well-defined holographic flows can be obtained from Sasaki-Einstein spaces, for which the infra-red region exhibits confinement.
